Capital Medical Center topped Olympia Orthopaedic Associates in collecting more food and toys during its first annual food and toy drive. The event was launched after Thanksgiving, and then the two medical organizations had a friendly competition to see which group could raise the most donations.

As part of the competition, both food and toy donations were assessed points to determine a winner. Capital Medical Center finished with 5,603 food points and 95 toy points, while Olympia Orthopaedic Associates finished with 2,629 food points and 74 toy points.

The losing chief executive, Troy Green of Olympia Orthopaedic Associates, had to wear Capital Medical Center's logo gear for an entire day.

The food and toys were donated to Thurston County Food Bank and Toys for Tots Thurston County.
