Putting armed guards in schools is a bad idea
STACIE LARSONN ational Rifle Association executive Wayne LaPierre says the American people think it would be “crazy” not to put armed guards in every school. Well, I am a 10th-generation American, and I think the very opposite. I believe it would be “crazy” to put armed guards in every school. For one, putting guns in schools would increase the chances of someone getting shot. More guns around equals more chances. And what would it be teaching our kids? Do we really want them to learn, in school, that being well-armed will solve every problem? That sounds more like a philosophy that would lead to the problem the NRA thinks it’s addressing. And two, it would further deplete the education budget at a time when all budgets are at risk. Let’s stop and think this through a little better.
