Stan Koep, principal of Chambers Prairie Elementary School in Lacey, has been selected as the Capital region's 2013 Distinguished Principal.

He is now one of 18 nominees vying for the state’s Distinguished Principal Award. The winner will be announced in about three weeks.

“Mr. Koep consistently demonstrates a conscientiousness and genuine commitment to the education of all students,” said Ron Sisson, principal of Seven Oaks Elementary School in Lacey, and director of the Elementary School Principals Association of Washington’s Capital region.

The winner of the state award will be nominated for National Distinguished Principals Program, which takes place in the fall and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
