Thurston home sales flat, prices down in December

Thurston County home sales were largely flat and median prices fell to end 2012, according to Northwest Multiple Listing Service data released Monday.

Home sales fell 2 percent to 223 units last month from 228 units in December 2011, while median prices fell 4 percent to $203,000 from $212,000 in the same year-over-year period, the combined single-family residence and condominium data show.

Pending sales rose 7.83 percent to 248 units from 230 units, the combined data show.

Meanwhile, the number of homes for sale fell below 1,000 units for the first time in years. Total active listings fell 25 percent to 988 units from 1,324 units in the year-over-year December period, the combined data show. New listings last month fell to 187 units from 211 units.
