The ball, which honors Democrat Jay Inslee on the day of his inauguration, is at the Capitol after initial plans would have moved it to a Lacey site. Protests led to a reconsideration and return to the Legislative Building, where balls have been held in recent decades. There is room for up to 5,000 people and early sales of the $100 tickets last month were in excess of 2,200.

The Governor's Inaugural Ball will take place at the state Capitol building at 7 p.m. January 16. Everyone is invited to this event.
There will be music, dancing, entertainment and food from the Washington State Chef's Association as well as a special wine made just for the ball. This year's ball's theme is a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Temple of Justice.

The IBC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit group of Thurston County Citizens who gather every four years to put on the inaugural ball for the incoming governor and state leaders. All funds used for the Ball come from the sale of tickets.
