No. 15 Ohio State hands No. 2 Michigan its first loss

Deshaun Thomas scored 20 points and had the first and last baskets in a 16-0 first-half spurt to lead No. 15 Ohio State to a 56-53 win over No. 2 Michigan in Columbus, Ohio.

Trey Burke, who led the Wolverines (16-1 overall, 3-1 Big Ten) with 15 points, had a shot to tie the game with 17 seconds remaining, but the ball rattled around and out.

Lenzelle Smith Jr. hit two foul shots with 12.7 seconds remaining and Aaron Craft added two more for the Buckeyes (13-3, 2-2).
