Here’s how you can help homeless efforts
NAOMI BARESELAs we go into the New Year, I would like to invite us all to come together to work toward alleviating the pain and suffering that many people are going through -- homelessness. Solutions may seem overwhelming; however, when individuals come together, we can make a difference. And in serving others, we can feel a sense of purpose that brings a great deal of satisfaction to our own lives. I read about a Homeless Prevention Partnership being formed and supported by a grant from the City of Olympia. I learned that volunteers were being recruited through faith communities, to serve as greeters and advocates at an Interfaith Works Advocacy and Support Center for Homeless Adults. If you have a desire to help, the next volunteer training will be at SideWalk starting Jan. 14. For more information, go to walkthurston.org.
