Tumwater looking to fill vacant council seat

The search has begun for candidates to fill a city council seat now vacant after the retirement of council member Judith Hoefling in Dec. 2012.

The chosen candidate would fill the seat until the November election.

Qualified candidates are registered as a Tumwater voter and a resident of Tumwater for at least a year preceding the temporary appointment.

The position includes being involved in a number of city, intergovernmental and regional meetings.

Applications are available on the city's website. Interested candidates can also get a printed application at Tumwater City Hall, 555 Israel Road S.W., or call 360-754-4120 for more information.

Applications should be directed to Melody Valiant, city clerk, are due by 5 p.m. Feb. 20 to Tumwater City Hall. Late arriving mail will not be accepted.
