Thurston County is hosting a two-part sustainable landscaping class starting in February geared toward reducing maintenance while attracting birds and butterflies, according to a news release.

The first class will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the LOTT Wet Center, 500 Adams Street, in Olympia.

The free class is sponsored by the Stream Team and WSU Extension's Native Plant Salavage Project, featuring hands-on information about incorporating native and drought tolerant plants into landscaping.

The first class will teach how to create a draft landscape plan.

Those who attend the second class from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 14 can have those plans reviewed by landscape experts.

Space is limited and advance registration is required. For information, visit Stream Team's website and click "calendar." For information call 360-867-2166 or email nativeplantsalvage@gmail.com
