TODAY -- Jazz in a Box: As part of the new BLACK BOX CABARET JAZZ SERIES, STEVE LUCENO and guests will play at 8 tonight at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. TODAY -- Energetic folk-Americana: Coming off the release of their latest album, “It Won’t Be Long,” the Portland-based group FRUITION STRING BAND is performing at 9 tonight at the Olympia Ballroom, 116 Legion Way SE, Olympia. The group has played at festivals throughout the region, including Bumbershoot. SATURDAY -- Time to get All Shook Up: Celebrate Elvis’ birthday at 7 p.m. Saturday at Capitol Theater, 206 Fifth Ave. SE, Olympia. The ELVIS BIRTHDAY BASH with ROBERT WASHINGTON offers a night of film, burlesque featuring TUSH BURLESQUE and music by KENTUCKY RAIN. The show also features a screening of the award-winning film “Almost Elvis,” which tells of the best Elvis impersonators and chronicles top contenders on their road to the world championship. SATURDAY -- Crafty canines: A group of dogs — all rescued from shelters and pounds — show off their skills, including tricks, acrobatics, dancing and comedy in STUNT DOG EXPERIENCE. MONDAY -- The feather art of Chris Maynard: CHRIS MAYNARD of Olympia, whose work is attracting international attention, will show his feather shadowboxes in his hometown with an exhibit at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. The exhibit opens Monday and runs through Feb. 15; a reception with a talk by Maynard and Thor Hanson, a biologist and the author of “Feathers,” is planned for 2:30-4:30 p.m. Feb. 2.
