A work session on binge drinking on college campuses will take place in the Senate Law & Justice Committee at 8 a.m. Following the work session, the committee will hear a bill that would create college DUI courts. The committee will meet in Hearing Room 1 of the John A. Cherberg building.

A work session on the implementation of federal health care reforms will take place when The House Health Care & Wellness Committee meets at 1:30 p.m. The work session will be held in Hearing Room B of the John L. O’Brien building.

The Supreme Court plans a Centennial Birthday Party from noon to 2 p.m. today to mark 100 years since the Temple of Justice construction project was completed.

The Veterans Legislative Coalition will meet today from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Columbia Room of the Legislative Building.

BILL INTRODUCTIONS

Senate Bill 5120 would suspend all spending on public art related to capital projects through 2015, recognizing that “one of (the Legislature’s) foremost duties is prioritization and wise use of taxpayer funds.” The bill’s prime sponsor is Sen. Mike Carrell, R-Lakewood.

Senate Bill 5097 would allow spouses to pool their volunteer hours on agency-approved volunteer projects to qualify for a free Discovery Pass, which provides access to state parks.

Senate Bill 5100 would allow sexual offenses against minors to be prosecuted up until the victim’s 30th birthday, instead of having a 10-year statute of limitations like other rape cases. The bill is sponsored by Sen. Jim Hargrove, D-Hoquiam.
