Friday’s highlights

Boys basketball

Brock Wade’s game-high 18 points got W.F. West back on the winning track after Tuesday’s loss with a 69-58 victory over Tumwater. Three Thunderbirds reached double figures – Jayden Croft (15 points), David Cooper (14) and Jaimie Bryant (10).

Center Colton Smith’s 26 points made him one of three Rochester players to reach double figures in scoring in the Warriors’ 79-61 victory over Rainier in 1A Southwest Washington Evergreen Division play. Jared Rigsbee (19 points) and Tyler Yarber (10) also reached double figures for Rochester. Zach Froembling had a game-high 30 to lead the Mountaineers.

Steven Stone’s 22 points led North Thurston in its 73-45 loss to South Kitsap.

Girls basketball

Anushka Maldonado had 21 points and 15 rebounds, and Dalia Bader had 17 points and nine rebounds to help Yelm to a 65-47 victory over Central Kitsap in Narrows League 4A action to remain in second place in the league standings.

Sarah McKee poured in a career-high 29 points to help Timberline remain in second place in the Narrows League 3A with a 54-53 victory over Lincoln.

Gig Harbor handed Olympia just its second loss in the past six games with a 42-34 victory over the Bears. Sophomore Jona Spiller led Olympia with 10 points.

Kajana Fernandus’ 13 points and Brittany Sebesta’s 11 points paced North Thurston in its 51-44 loss to South Kitsap in a Narrows League crossover game.
