Grays Harbor County sheriff’s officers say an 8-year-old girl was bitten on the head and legs by a bulldog as she headed to a birthday party in the town of McCleary.

KXRO Radio reported that the unidentified girl was taken to an Olympia hospital for treatment after the attack on Saturday.

Deputies say the girl and a friend were walking to another home and planned to meet a third friend and attend a birthday party. When they arrived at the neighbor’s home, a 2-year-old American bulldog managed to get out of a gate and attack the 8-year-old.

Animal control officers were investigating.
