The photos by Tony Overman in today’s paper (1-14-13) reminded me that I had not sent in my letter of thanks. Thank you for the excellent photographers, with special recognition for Overman.

How is he able to get such awesome emotion from his “people” photos? I remember a photo of the Olympia High School wrestling coach, Rockey Isley, at his retirement after 35 years coaching OHS Bears. Coach Isley is surrounded by eight smiling, jubilant teenagers. Looking at this photo taken by Overman, one can’t help but feel and experience their emotion and excitement, which lingers in your heart and soul.

I am still inspired by this photo, and many more have filled a scrapbook throughout the year. As with today’s photos of young students, each face tells us a story.

Thank you, Mr. Overman and The Olympian, for a year of fantastic photography. I look forward each morning with much anticipation for the next memorable photo.
