A potential winning shot by Centralia’s Baylor Scott at the buzzer was off the mark, giving River Ridge a 62-61 victory over the Tigers in their 2A Evergreen Conference matchup. The Hawks led by as much as 17 points in the second half before Centralia, led by Scott’s 20 points, made its comeback. Scott’s basket with 37.6 seconds left pulled the Tigers to within 62-61. River Ridge, winner of eight consecutive games, was led by Brad Wallace, who had a game-high 24 points – including 16 in the third quarter. Trailing by one point inside 2 minutes to play, Tumwater outscored Aberdeen 13-3 down the stretch to pull away for a 73-64 victory and keep its postseason hopes alive with three regular-season games remaining. The Thunderbirds are in fifth place, which is the final spot into the 2A District IV tournament. Sophomore David Cooper led Tumwater with 15 points. Justin Rudd scored 14 points, and Keenan Williams chipped in 13 to lead Capital to a 68-62 victory over Black Hills as the Cougars remained tied for second place with River Ridge in the 2A Evergreen Conference standings. Josh Newbill led the Wolves with 13 points.
