The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in the 7800 block of Samurai Drive near Lacey, Lt. Greg Elwin said.

A 15-year-old victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the leg, Elwin said. The teen was shot in the right thigh and taken by ambulance to a hospital, Sgt. Ray Brady said. Dispatchers got the call at 3:48 p.m.

No one else was hurt, and Brady said witnesses estimated six to eight shots were fired.

According to Brady, two youths were walking when a gray car, possibly an early 2000s silver-colored or gray Honda or Acura drove by. The car had a rear spoiler and no rear license plate. Two males were inside; the passenger fired a gun, Brady said.

The Sheriff’s Office has put out an all-points bulletin in an effort to locate the vehicle. The motive for the shooting is under investigation, Brady said.

On Thursday evening, Samurai Drive was blocked to traffic by yellow crime-scene tape, and detectives were collecting spent shell casings.

Anyone with information is asked to call Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222 or dispatchers at 360-704-2740.
