Do some research on gun ownership

Lee Haugen’s letter to the editor calling the NRA a “terrorist organization” speaks out of fear, perhaps even willful ignorance. It certainly declares his ignorance of our founding and history. And it clearly speaks to his extremism.

He calls for “long-overdue and effective restrictions on the proliferation of firearms.” Let’s look at countries who have embraced gun bans, all of which have resulted in extremely gruesome genocides. They include Turkey, Soviet Union, Ukraine, China, Germany, Cambodia, Uganda, Rwanda, Guatemala, Tibet, Bangladesh, Sudan and Zimbabwe.

Perhaps that will allow him to actually do his own research. If you question the United States, you have forgotten that the newly emancipated slaves after the Civil War were banned from owning firearms. American Indians were banned from owning firearms as well. “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
