Party City opens at Westfield Capital mall

Party supply retailer Party City, previously at 1200 Cooper Point Road in Olympia, has moved to a site at Westfield Capital mall, next to Bed, Bath & Beyond.

The new address is 2315 Fourth Ave. W.

As the Super Bowl fast approaches, Party City is selling NFL licensed tableware and balloons, football serving bowls and trays, color-coordinated cheer gear with face paint, megaphones and wristbands in team colors, according to a news release.

Party City is open 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Hop on your bicycle and join thousands of other Whatcom County residents participating in the 16th annual Bike to Work and School Day the morning of Friday, May 17 - especially if you're a newbie rider.

"My goal is for people who don't consider themselves bicyclists to try it on Friday," organizer Mary Anderson said, adding that she hoped riders would "meet some other bicyclists and friendly people and have fun."

"Hopefully, they enjoy it and will continue to ride their bikes," said Anderson, who is the event coordinator for Everybody Bike.

Caldwell man arrested for 4 pounds of marijuana

An Oregon State Police trooper stopped 32-year-old Shawn B. Merrell for speeding eastbound on I-84 near Baker City, Ore. at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and discovered marijuana, hash and hash oil in the trunk of Merrell's car, according to an Oregon State Police news release.

The trooper arrested Merrell and booked him into the Baker County Jail for unlawful possession and delivery of a controlled substance. The news release estimated the value of the marijuana at $10,000.

The Oregon State Police Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
