Deputies guard Thurston County courthouse after phoned threat

Police are searching for a man who allegedly threatened the Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office Wednesday morning, putting the courthouse campus on lockdown.

The threat was made over the phone, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Brady.

The lockdown on the campus off Lakeridge Drive lasted about a half-hour and was lifted about 10:40 a.m.

Deputies know who the suspect is, Brady said.

Brady said the caller was upset about a case and told a staffer at the Prosecutor’s Office that “he had guns and was a short distance from the courthouse complex.” The call was made about 9:50 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office had deputies posted outside the courthouse throughout the day to ensure security, Brady said.

The Sheriff’s Office hadn’t found the suspect as of 5 p.m., Brady said. Detectives had information that he might be in Pierce County.

“We’re still investigating,” he said.

Brady declined to identify the man or give details about the case he was upset about.
