Update:

The Thurston County Coroner's Office has identified the jogger killed Friday morning after being hit by a Jeep in west Olympia.

Phillip Nash, 59, of Olympia died after being hit by the Jeep in the intersection of Cooper Point Road and Capital Mall Drive Southwest, according to Coroner Gary Warnock.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Update:

A jogger was killed after being struck by a Jeep while crossing an intersection in west Olympia Friday morning, according police.

The man was jogging in the intersection of Cooper Point Road and Capital Mall Drive Southwest at 6:25 a.m. when he was hit by a Jeep, said Lt. Paul Lower. He died at the scene.

The intersection will be closed for at least six hours today as police investigate.

"We have multiple witnesses and the driver that we are interviewing," Lower said.

The Thurston County Coroner will release the man's name after next of kin have been notified.
