Four people were hospitalized after two cars collided on state Route 507 near Yelm on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol:

Joshua R. Inouye-Clayton, 19, of Yelm was driving a 2001 Honda Civic south on state Route 507 near Manke Road as Karissa A. Beckman, 39, of Rainier was headed north in a 2011 GMC Yukon just after 4 p.m.

Inouye-Clayton was going to take a left turn onto Manke Road and was hit by Beckman’s GMC.

Both vehicles were totaled, and the drivers were taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital with injuries.

Inouye-Clayton’s passengers, 20-year-old Amanda R. Madigan of Lacey and 18-year-old Jessi Alonso of Yelm, were also injured and taken to the hospital.

Beckman’s 5-year-old son was a passenger in her car but was not injured.

Inouye-Clayton, Beckman and Madigan were not wearing seatbelts.

Troopers determined the cause of the crash was failing to yield. Charges are pending.
