Greg Creighton named Olympia's interim head baseball coach

Longtime Olympia High School assistant baseball coach Greg Creighton will hold the tag of interim head baseball coach at Olympia this spring.

Nineteen-year head coach Todd McDougall, whose brain cancer diagnoses came last month, will remain the head coach, with the plan of attending practices and games when he can, Creighton said.

“Things won’t change a whole lot, because everyone is staying in place,” Creighton said. “Hopefully, it won’t be a huge change for the kids.”

Creighton has been on staff as an assistant coach since 2003. He also was the Bears’ head coach from 1985 to 1993. The Bears return a veteran squad that won the 4A Narrows League title last spring and return six all-league players -- seniors Gabe Padukiewicz, Cameron Frost, Michael Fairchild, Leo Valenti, Joey Knight and junior Leif Hanson.
