Noteworthy

The third time is apparently not the charm for the controversial Reproductive Parity Act. The proposal got a third shot in the Senate this week. And, similar to previous versions of the bill introduced this session that have all landed in committees chaired by members of the Republican-dominated Majority Coalition Caucus that refused to hear the bill, SB 5798, sponsored by Sen. Steve Hobbs, D-Lake Stevens, is now headed for the Republican-dominated Senate Health Care Committee.

Monday in the Legislature

The buzz in the Senate next week will come during a hearing on a proposal that would provide limited civil immunity for beekeepers. Sen. Steve Litzow, R-Mercer Island, is sponsoring the bill. The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. in front of the Agriculture, Water and Rural Economic Development Committee, Senate Hearing Room 3 of the John A. Cherberg Building.

Child care reform and mental health issues will be up for discussion when the Senate Human Services & Corrections Committee holds a 10 a.m. hearing. It’s scheduled in Senate Hearing Room 1 of the John A. Cherberg Building.

The Senate Commerce and Labor Committee will hold a hearing on a social-media bill. SB 5211 would prohibit employers “from requiring an employee or prospective employee to submit or give access to social networking account information that is not in the public domain.”
