Longtime Olympia High School assistant baseball coach Greg Creighton will hold the tag of interim head baseball coach at Olympia this spring.

Nineteen-year head coach Todd McDougall, whose brain cancer diagnosis came last month, will remain the head coach, with the plan of attending practices and games when he can, Creighton said.

“Things won’t change a whole lot, because everyone is staying in place,” Creighton said. “Hopefully, it won’t be a huge change for the kids.”

Creighton has been on staff as an assistant coach since 2003. He was head coach of the Bears from 1985–93.

The Bears return a veteran squad that won the 4A Narrows League title last spring and features six all-league players – seniors Gabe Padukiewicz, Cameron Frost, Michael Fairchild, Leo Valenti, Joey Knight and junior Leif Hanson.
