Crashes block northbound I-5 near Chehalis

UPDATE: One northbound lane of I-5 is now open near milepost 73 in Chehalis, according to Washington State Patrol. The collision involved a semi truck, a box van and a motorhome. Traffic is slow moving and the backup starts about six miles back.

Two people were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, and more were transported to Centralia Providence Hospital, according to the Centralia Chronicle.

The collision created a fuel leak, and there is a large amount of debris from the wreck blocking the road. Washington State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the collision. Personnel from DOT are on scene cleaning up the collision.

As of 11:30 a.m., there are two semi-truck crashes in the northbound lanes at mileposts 78 and 80, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Both northbound lanes are blocked just before Hwy. 6. Drivers can get off on Hwy. 508 and detour via Jackson Highway.

Also, drivers are reporting stop and go through the area, according to the Centralia Chronicle.
