Columnist should check her facts

VANESSA HAULUND

Columnist Martha Pierce, when writing an opinion, should check her facts. The national institute of mental health, estimates mental health disorders affect 26.2 percent of the us population. Six percent suffer debilitating mental disorders. Mental disorders are the leading cause of disability in the U.S. and Canada.

This cannot be put off as a rare factor in gun violence, as Pierce seems to think. Neither can she rewrite the constitution based on what she thinks our Founding Fathers meant while drafting it. We do need common sense laws in place, but let’s not skew the facts to make a point.
