Man tracked down, arrested, accused of assault

Lacey police arrested a man Tuesday morning after he allegedly threatened his estranged wife with a handgun in a residence in the 4400 block of 37th Avenue Southeast, police said.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance. While police were en route, the man left in a vehicle, which detectives found unoccupied a short distance away from the residence.

Officers established a perimeter, assisted by Olympia police officers and Thurston County sheriff’s deputies. K-9 units belonging to Lacey police and the Sheriff’s Office began a track on the nearby Chehalis Western Trail and located the suspect about 300 yards north of 37th Avenue. He had a handgun when officers took him into custody, police said.

The 43-year-old Lacey resident was booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault.
