Police activity triggers modified lockdown Thursday at Lacey school

Lisa Pemberton, staff writer

Lacey Elementary School in Lacey went through a brief “modified lockdown” Thursday while police searched the area for a suicidal person, according to a post on North Thurston Public Schools’ Facebook page.

During the procedure – which was a precautionary measure based on recommendations from law enforcement – the school’s outside doors were locked, but classes proceeded as usual, according to the post.

Police apprehended the person of interest within 30 minutes, according to school district officials.
