City of Olympia Saturday Drop-off Site opens Saturday

Tammy McGee; Staff writer

Olympia's recycle drop-off site opens Saturday for all traditional, and non-appliance and clean scrap metal recycling.

If you're cleaning out your barn or shed, and have any metal waste, such as tools, fencing, fenders, wheels, posts, tanks, wire, car parts or outdoor furniture, you can bring them to the Saturday Drop-off Site. There is no fee for scrap metal disposal.

When recycling, please be sure that all plastic is removed.

There should be no fluids, or gasses of any kind. For safety reasons, an attendant will check that all units containing oil, hydraulics or transmission fluids, gasoline, or other fuels have been properly drained.

Please do not bring paint cans, batteries, refrigerators, microwaves, televisions, washing machines or other appliances.

Residents may also bring grass, garden clippings, brambles, brush and branches. Wood is also acceptable as long as it is untreated and unpainted. No need to remove nails. Rates are assessed on load size and type of material. Customers unload their own vehicle.

Olympia garbage customers can now bring their extra traditional recyclables at no charge. Those include paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and aluminum.

The site is located at the City’s Maintenance Center, 1401 Eastside Street, SE. The site is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.through November 23.

Cash and check accepted.

The site is open all holiday weekends. Visit olympiawa.gov/satdropoff for additional information and resources.
