-Former Gov. Chris Gregoire, saying she doesn’t expect a flood of new taxes following the state Supreme Court’s decision striking down a requirement that legislators have a two-thirds vote to raise taxes. Gregoire made her remarks at a Tuesday gathering of four former Washington governors who appear in a KCTS-TV special that airs April 16.

TODAY IN THE LEGISLATURE

The Senate and House will hold floor sessions starting at 9 and 10 a.m., respectively. Both chambers will break for caucus and are likely to hold additional sessions later in the afternoon or evening.

Lawmakers on the House Education Committee will be holding an 8 a.m. work session on skill centers. The committee is scheduled to meet in Hearing Room A in the John L. O’Brien Building.

The House Early Learning and Human Services Committee will be discussing supported living during its 9 a.m. work session. The meeting is scheduled for Hearing Room C in the John L. O’Brien Building.

The Washington State Hospital Association will be giving an update to the House Health Care and Wellness Committee during the committee’s 9 a.m. work session. The session is scheduled for Hearing Room B of the John L. O’Brien Building.

ELSEWHERE ON CAMPUS

The Washington Student Achievement Council – the state’s lead education agency charged with building a 10-year road map for Washington education from early learning through higher education – is hosting public roundtables to gather community input on the state of education. The public is invited to share feedback with WSAC board members today during 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. meetings at the Washington State Arts Commission Conference Room, 711 Capitol Way South, Suite 600 in Olympia.

FRIDAY IN THE LEGISLATURE

The House Capital Budget Committee will hold an 8 a.m. work session and public hearing Friday. The committee will take testimony on Senate Bill 5349, a measure that would revise alternative public works contracting procedures. The committee also will hold a work session on the potential budget impacts of climate change. The session is scheduled for Hearing Room B in the John L. O’Brien Building.
