Pleasant Glade Elementary School behavior assistant Margaret Douglas has been named regional “Classified Employee of the Year” by Educational Service District 113.

Douglas developed a leadership program at her school that involves activities such as tutoring, mentoring, playground safety and a food composting. Pleasant Glade principal Bruce Walton said Douglas “exemplifies the commitment and impact classified employees have on student learning and lifelong success.”

“Her unique skills allow her to help students who in the past would have missed significant opportunities to learn because they lacked the self regulation necessary for learning in the school setting," Walton said.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn will recognize all of the regional winners and announce the state Classified School Employee of the Year during an award ceremony in April.
