Tumwater School Board is expected to vote on proposed elementary school boundary adjustments at its 7 p.m. meeting Thursday at the district office, 621 Linwood Ave. SW.

All of the areas under consideration are currently in the Michael T. Simmons Elementary School’s attendance zone and would be moved to Black Lake Elementary School.

Students and siblings could be grandfathered into their current school so that effect is expected to be gradual, said Mel Murray, supervisor of capital projects.

Areas that would be reassigned include the Trosper Ridge housing development and properties north and south of 54th Avenue Southwest from Joppa Street Southwest west to the Black Lake Elementary boundary.

Seven students from that area currently attend Michael T. Simmons.

Black Lake’s boundaries would shift to include homes in the Kirsop Village and Ly-Rhon neighborhoods and properties west of Kirsop Road SW.

At this point, 35 elementary school-age children live in those neighborhoods, and 26 of them attend Michael T. Simmons.
