The total is in: Students at Roosevelt Elementary School in Olympia read a whopping 208,000 minutes during the month of February, according to PTA president Ann Bowers.

The event raised more than $13,000 for the school.

“There is still money coming in from families,” Bowers said. “We will be having a celebration on this Friday for all students that participated. They will get an extra recess and a frozen treat.”

Here’s an earlier story I wrote on the 400-student school’s month long focus on reading which included several special events such as the readathon and Roosevelt’s annual Sit Together and Read (STAR) Night.
