Has our society become too fearful?

It is with a significant amount of humor that I read the article in the March 12 paper about the man carrying an umbrella prompting a lockdown. We of the community that are older, especially us hippies, might remember “Alice’s Restaurant” by Arlo Guthrie. And you youngsters should listen to the long version of the song. It’s hilarious.

I agree with Mr. Eichler, “Does it have to go that far?” Indeed, there is much more to be considered than a knee-jerk reaction based on very rare occurrences of late. Fear is being engendered in our society ... and needlessly for the most part.

Those Swiss army knives that were dangerous last month won’t be dangerous next month. Get real, folks.
