3-hour tour on a schooner

March 29, 2013

South Sound residents have the chance to hit the high seas, or at least Puget Sound, aboard the historic schooner Adventuress.

Sound Experience is offering public sails from 1-4 p.m. April 13 and 3-6 p.m. April 14. Trips also will be offered in Gig Harbor on April 27 and Tacoma on May 4 and 5.

This year the two-masted, gaff-rigged schooner is celebrating its centennial, after being built at the Rice Brothers Yard in East Boothbay, Maine.

The trip is free for members, $55 adults and $25 youth. Sailors will board the ship at Percival Landing, 405 Columbia St. NW, Olympia. Call 360-379-0438.
