New aquarium, marine center on horizon?

The South Sound Estuary Association will hold its annual meeting and volunteer celebration today.

The guest speaker will be George Sharp, director of Thurston County Visitor Bureau, who will talk about the association’s potential impact on the economics of South Puget Sound. He will discuss his recommendations as the association works toward its goal of opening an aquarium and marine estuary interpretive center.

It will also feature an overview of the group’s accomplishments and a look ahead at plans for 2013.

The event runs from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Friends Meeting House, 3201 Boston Harbor Road, Olympia.
