The Thurston County SWAT team helped detectives serve a search warrant Tuesday afternoon to try to find stolen property at a residence in the 8000 block of Ayer Street near the corner of 83rd Avenue.

The property includes a large detached, multiple-vehicle garage, where detectives focused their search. As of late Tuesday afternoon, one man who lives at the residence had been arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, Sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin said.

A woman who was a guest at the residence was being detained Tuesday afternoon, but she had not been arrested, Elwin said.

A burglary investigation in Centralia led to detectives serving the warrant about 2:15 p.m., Elwin said. He said that after serving the warrant, detectives had located some of the stolen items, including a vehicle battery charger, sought by Centralia police. He said detectives would be searching the residence into the early evening.

Elwin said that members of Thurston County’s Regional Investigative Team, which includes detectives from Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and the sheriff’s office, are assisting with the investigation.

One neighbor, Carol Gleaves, said that the residence being searched had been a problem in the neighborhood for several years.
