ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights” series comes to Little Creek Casino in Shelton tonight showcasing seven fights at the Skookum Creek Event Center.
The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the first fight scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets are $40. Live airing on ESPN2 begins at 7 p.m.
“While this is our first nationally televised boxing event,” Little Creek CEO Michael Starr said, “it certainly won’t be our last.”
The 10-round main event features former World Boxing Association Super Bantamweight champ Rico Ramos (21-2, 11 KOs) against Oscar Gonzalez (17-2, 12) in a featherweight matchup.
Ramos, from Los Angeles, began his career winning his first 20 professional fights and won his WBA title with a seventh-round knockout of Akifumi Shimoda on July 20, 2011. He lost the belt to Guillermo Rigoneaux in a six-round KO on Jan. 20, 2012.
Gonzalez, a former World Boxing Youth world super bantamweight champion and World Boxing Council U.S. super bantamweight champ, had his 19-bout winning streak snapped by Raul Hirales in Las Vegas last December. This is his first bout since that unanimous decision loss to Hirales.
In another featured event, Farah “Quite Storm” Ennis (20-1, 12) faces off against Francisco Sierra (25-7-1, 22) in a super middleweight bout.
