Olympia resident Alex McDonald has pledged 10 months of national service as part of the Atlantic Region's 19th Class of the National Civilian Community Corps, an AmeriCorps program.
McDonald will spend 10 months getting things done for America while strengthening communities and developing his leadership. McDonald and his team will work on various projects focusing on environmental stewardship, infrastructure improvement, urban and rural development, energy conservation and disaster relief.
I first heard about NCCC through a family member who had done a work with a similar organization, said McDonald.
After his 10 month stint, McDonald will graduate from NCCC with an education award of $5,550, which can be used to continue education or pay back student loans.
I have always enjoyed helping others, and I look forward to this year of making a difference said McDonald.
