TODAY IN THE LEGISLATURE
In the wake of recent drunken driving fatalities, the Senate Committee on Law and Justice and the House Committee on Public Safety have scheduled an 8 a.m. public hearing on two bills related to DUI laws. The hearing is scheduled for Hearing Room 4 of the John A. Cherberg Building. The hearing will be streamed live at tvw.org
Gov. Jay Inslee plans to sign four bills into law, including House Bill 1352 which would extend the statute of limitations for sexual abuse against a child.
FRIDAY IN THE LEGISLATURE
A proposal aiming to strengthen the review of the Legislature’s goals for tax breaks by requiring every new break to include a statement of legislative intent and an expiration date will get a public hearing Friday. The House Finance Committee will meet at 8 a.m. in Hearing Room A of the John L. O’Brien Building.
ELSEWHERE ON CAMPUS
Students from White Bluffs Elementary School in Richland will hold a steel drum band concert in the rotunda of the Legislative Building from 8:30-9:45 a.m.
On Friday, more Richland students – this time from Tapteal Elementary School – will be in the rotunda of the Legislative Building to give another steel drum band performance from noon-1 p.m.
Also on Friday, The Washington Brewers Guild is sponsoring a rally starting at noon on the north steps of the Legislative Building. Organizers want to call attention to the tax issues facing small brewers.
