Fastpitch: Timberline all alone atop 3A Narrows League standings after 6-5 win over Wilson; other Friday highlights

Rebecca Nelson’s two-RBI hit in the bottom of the seventh gave Timberline a 6-5 come-from-behind win over Wilson Friday afternoon. The win, combined with a loss by North Thurston, puts the Blazers alone in first place in the 3A Narrows League fastpitch standings. The Blazers pounded out 13 hits, including three from Aundrea Temple and two apiece from Rylee Payton and Maria Velez-Kraft. Pitcher Ellie Jones struck out six Wilson batters in the win.

-- Lindsey Corey led off the sixth inning with a single, then scored the winning run in Shelton’s 4-3 upset of North Thurston in 3A Narrows League fastpitch. North Thurston now trails Timberline, which beat Wilson Friday, by one game for first place. The two teams face off at 4 p.m. Monday at Timberline.

-- Tumwater’s Aubri Burmood had a grand-slam in her only hit in the T-Birds’ 19-2 win over River Ridge in 2A EvCo fastpitch. Megan Crawford, Alyssa Ubrun and Kaylene Glasgo had two hits apiece.

-- Olympia scored 11 of its runs over the third and fourth innings for a 12-3 win over Central Kitsap in 4A Narrows League fastpitch. Nikki Schroeder had two solo home runs, Adrianna Rupright went 3-for-4 and Bri Bell and Erin Roloff had two hits apiece.

Baseball

-- Leo Valenti went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run and Michael Fairchild also had two hits in Olympia’s 4-1 win over Gig Harbor to close out the 4A Narrows League baseball regular season. The Bears will be the league’s No. 1 seed at the 4A Narrow League tournament at the Regional Athletic Complex and will play a to-be-determined opponent at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the tournament title game.

-- Ryan Connor and Josiah Julagay had two hits apiece as Timberline scored all of its runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 10-0 shutout of Shelton in 3A Narrows League baseball. The Blazers, the league champions, will be the league’s No. 1 seed into the 3A Narrows League tournament and will play in the tournament title game against a to-be-determine opponent at 4 p.m. Friday at the Regional Athletic Complex.

-- Tumwater spotted four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good in its 9-8 win over River Ridge in 2A EvCo baseball. Anthony Correia, Garrett Terrell and Colton Turner, the winning pitcher, had two hits each.

-- Cameron Monda’s two-run triple highlighted Capital’s offense in a 7-4 win over Centralia in 2A EvCo baseball.
