Onalaska man dies in crash south of Chehalis Friday

April 27, 2013

An Onalaska man was killed Friday morning after driving off Interstate 5 and into a barrier south of Chehalis, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Michael E. Seifert, 61, was driving a 1997 Toyota pickup truck south on the interstate at 6:14 a.m. when he swerved to the left and hit the concrete jersey barrier, puncturing the left front tire of the truck.

The truck continued over the Newaukum River Bridge, scraping the jersey barrier for 600 feet until it stopped.

Seifert was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital where he later died.

The crash is still under investigation.
