Doug Galloway, who spent 10 seasons coaching boys basketball at Capital High School through 2012, is Montesano High School's new boys basketball coach, Rob Burns of The Daily World reported. The hire is pending school board approval.

In August, the Olympia School District announced it would not renew Galloway’s basketball coaching contract following an incident between Capital student-athletes at a basketball team camp at Western Washington University last June. Galloway did not coach basketball at another high school this past season.

Montesano is a Class 1A school that competes in the 1A Southwest Washington Evergreen Division with Elma, Hoquiam, Forks, Rainier, Rochester, and Tenino. The Bulldogs went 12-11 overall in 2012-13. Galloway, who also coaches girls golf at Capital, will remain a teacher at Capital.
