RESTAURANT INSPECTIONS

Comments are taken directly from latest Thurston County inspection reports, which are available at each food establishment and at the Thurston County Environmental Health Office. For questions concerning these reports, contact the health office at 360-867-2667.

Red violations are those most likely to cause food-borne illness and must be corrected immediately if feasible or according to a compliance schedule established by the health officer. Blue violations relate to the overall cleanliness and condition of operation and must be corrected according to a compliance schedule established by the health officer. Any establishment receiving more than 45 red demerit points or more than 65 total demerit points will be automatically reinspected in 10 days. If an establishment exceeds those limits twice in a calendar year, the permit will be suspended immediately.

Wendy’s

April 18: Routine check (10 red; 5 blue)

Comments: Red — Four employees were without food handler cards. Top inserts of cooler at pick-up window were at 43-45 degrees. Cold holding must be 41 degrees or colder. Blue — Ice scoop at drive-thru window soda machine is resting on the grate. Wall, gas lines, etc., covered in grease directly behind pressure fryer and range.

Comments: Red — Handwash sink should be relocated, easily accessible and fully stocked for all employees. Blue — None noted.

Comments: Red — None noted. Blue — No sanitizer bucket available for wiping cloths. Inside refrigerator dirty with dried residue.

April 16: Routine check (0 red; 8 blue)

Comments: Red — None noted. Blue — Ice machine unclean on the inside with scum build-up on the white plastic shield: Repeat violation. Lots of food debris accumulating directly behind oven: Repeat violation.

Bagel Brothers

April 16: Routine check (0 red; 12 blue)

Comments: Red — None noted. Blue — Sanitizer for wiping cloths not strong enough. Soda nozzles unclean with mold growth. Floor not swept from previous day.
