Idea on how to refer to noncitizen immigrants

OlympiaMay 7, 2013

R eferencing the excerpt from Philadelphia Tribune printed in the April 23 issue of The Olympian: I believe illegal means unlawful. If an immigrant has applied for citizenship, he/she could be called “undocumented.” Otherwise they are illegal (unlawful). Once they have received their citizenship, then they would be Americans. A rose is a rose, is a rose, is a rose, etc.

The Olympian is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
