May 8, 2013

A 42-year-old Olympia man accused of stealing more than 1,000 gallons of gasoline from pumps and U-Haul trucks in Thurston County was arrested Tuesday morning.

The man was arrested at a home at the corner of Draham Street and 15th Avenue in Thurston County, according to Thurston County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Brady.

The man allegedly siphoned fuel using an electric pump, transferring the gas into drums in the back of a van.

Brady said the man stole 475 gallons of gas from Gull Harbor Mercantile on March 15. He allegedly took 322 gallons from Buddies Grocery and Deli off Martin Way on April 5 and another 122 gallons of regular gas and 94 gallons of diesel on April 6.

The man admitted to police that he also siphoned gas from U-haul trucks in Olympia.

The man was booked into Thurston County Jail on Tuesday and is being accused of second-degree theft, a felony.
