A 23-year-old Olympia man died Thursday after crashing a motorcycle into a car on Harrison Avenue.

Ryan D.C. Heggie died from blunt-force trauma to the head and torso, according to Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock. An autopsy was conducted Friday afternoon.

Heggie was driving in the 2400 block of Harrison Avenue near Kenyon Street Northwest at 1:30 p.m. when he clipped the right rear bumper of a vehicle trying to make a turn into the Wendy’s parking lot, according to police.

A witness reported seeing the motorcyclist slide out of control after hitting the car. He said the motorcyclist struck a white car that was stopped on Harrison, waiting to make a left turn.

Police say Heggie could have been speeding at the time of the crash.

He was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital.

A witness said Heggie was wearing a helmet.

The collision blocked both lanes of travel for several hours Friday. There were no other injuries.
