May 13, 2013

Attention motorists: Buckle up and put the phone down.

Between May 20 and June 2, law enforcement agencies are teaming up for countywide “Click it or Ticket” patrols in search of unbuckled drivers and passengers, and motorists who are illegally using their cell phones.

Last year, during the same time period, officers issues 3,171 seat belt violations and 1,059 cell phone violations.

The extra patrols are part of Target Zero, and will be conducted by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol and the Chehalis tribal, Lacey, Olympia and Yelm police departments.
