City could have built downtown parking lot

OlympiaMay 16, 2013

The City Council of Olympia has always said its supports the downtown businesses, but the installation of the parking meters is so counterproductive to encouraging people to come downtown. Enough with the parking meters.

For the amount of money the city has spent and will spend again, the city could have bought a parking lot for downtown business employees to park cheaper and left the street parking with the 90 minutes free parking for the customers.

I am told that now that the meters are here there is no going back. Why not? When you are driving the wrong direction, don’t you stop and turn around?
