Seattle’s Johnson named MLS player of the week

Sounders FC forward Eddie Johnson was honored Monday as Major League Soccer player of the week.

Johnson scored two goals Saturday in Seattle’s 4-2 win over FC Dallas. He won the award twice last season.

In other Sounders news:

 • Sounders U-23 forward David Geno was named the outstanding player of the U.S. Open Cup’s first round after scoring four goals in the U-23s’ 5-1 win over Doxa Italia last week in Sumner. The U-23s will visit the USL Pro Charlotte Eagles in the second round at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

 • The U.S. under-20 national team called in Sounders FC Academy forward Jordan Morris for the Toulon Tournament, May 28-June 8 in France. Morris, the 2012 state player of the year at Mercer Island High School, is a Stanford commit.

Sounders FC defender DeAndre Yedlin, who was called to the U-20 training camp in April, was not called for Toulon.
